My Story & All the Inbetweens

I'm Lynsey — writer, illustrator, maker, and the person who packs every trunk, draws every seagull and checks every page proof until it's right.

Alongside the children's books there's a whole other shelf, and it's the one that's most mine. Life Is My Canvas began as a journal for myself: a place to sit with the questions I'd spent years avoiding. It grew into the guided workbooks — volume after volume of prompts, reflections and space to write, made for women who are ready to put their own story down on paper.

The workbooks aren't therapy and they aren't a course. They're just honest pages that ask good questions and then get out of the way. Volume Two and Volume Three go deeper: identity, grief, the roles we take on, the ones we finally put down.

Then there's The Women I Was Hiding — my book. The one about all the versions of myself I tucked away to keep other people comfortable: the good girl, the capable one, the one who never needed anything. Writing it was not tidy. But it's the truest thing I've made.

The inbetweens are where the real work happens. The sketch that doesn't land. The colour that prints wrong. The day you realise a whole book needs redrawing. (Yes, that happened. More than once.) The inbetweens are also where the good stuff lives — the customer message that makes you cry, the moment a child recognises their own name in a commissioned story.

I started this studio because I believe people still want things made by hand. Not mass-produced, not algorithm-perfect. Just honest, beautiful work that means something.
